Chain of Craters Backcountry Byway

Not exactly a 4WD road, but I was wondering if anyone has driven the Chain of Craters Backcountry Byway? I was thinking that it might be a nice day trip from Albuquerque.

It looks like it would be a fun little bypass trip for some scenery.
