We welcome our visitors from other states to New Mexico's vast OHV opportunities. As a public service, we provide the following information to you. New Mexico's OHV regulations have provisions pertaining to off highway vehicle operation, equipment, safety, and permitting. The latest revision took affect on April 1, 2009. There are many items in the current OHV law that both residents and out-of-state visitors need to know, such as:
-Riders under 18 who are not licensed to drive: Adult supervision, helmet
-Riders under age 10: Parental Supervision, helmet, age-size appropriate ATV
-No rider under 18 may carry a passenger on a dirtbike or ATV.
-New Mexico Temporary OHV Sticker (see details below) for dirtbikes, ATVs and snowmobiles
-Regulations about crossing roads and where OHVs are allowed to ride on the shoulders of unpaved roads.
-Sound limit of 96 decibels
This list is not complete, it lists some of the major regulations which visitors ask us about.
Please refer to the law for the details on each topic. The best source for information pertaining to OHV regulations, registration, out-of-state OHV stickers, and all other aspects of the State of New Mexico's OHV program can be obtained at this website: http://www.b4uride.com
Welcome to New Mexico, be safe, and have a great ride!
